Machine polishing and Gtechniq ceramic coating on a Firesand Orange Jaguar F-Type R
This 2016 Jaguar F-Type R came into our Wiltshire studio for machine polishing and long-term ceramic protection. Finished in Firesand Orange, it is a colour that rewards good paint and punishes bad: the metallic flake gives the panels real depth in sunlight, but the same light picks out every swirl mark and wash scratch. The owner chose our Level 2 Minor Correction Detail, a two-stage machine polish to lift the swirls and wash marring out of the paint, protected afterwards with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light topped with EXO v4.
Two-stage machine polishing
Like every car that comes in for paint correction, the F-Type was safely washed and fully decontaminated before any machine work began, so that nothing bonded to the paint could be dragged across the surface during polishing.
The paintwork was then machine polished in two stages: a cutting stage to remove the finer scratches and swirls left by previous washing, followed by a refining stage to restore clarity and gloss. On a colour like Firesand Orange the difference is obvious the moment the car is rolled outside, because the flake reads clean instead of hazy. Two-stage machine polishing is the level of correction most cars of this age need: enough to transform how the paint reflects light, without removing more clear coat than necessary.
Gtechniq ceramic coating: Crystal Serum Light and EXO v4
With the paint corrected, the finish was locked in with Gtechniq ceramic coating. Crystal Serum Light forms a hard, chemically resistant layer over the corrected paint, giving years of protection against the wash marring and road grime that caused the defects in the first place. EXO v4 was layered on top to add a slick, strongly water-repellent surface that keeps the car cleaner between washes and makes it far easier to maintain.
