Two-stage machine polishing and Gtechniq coatings on a Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale
This Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale came into our Wiltshire studio in black for a two-stage machine polish and Gtechniq coatings. Black is the most revealing colour there is: it shows every swirl mark and wash scratch under any direct light, which is exactly why it looks so good once the paint has been properly corrected and then protected so it stays that way.
Two-stage machine polishing
The car was safely washed and fully decontaminated before any machine work started, then polished in two stages: a cutting stage to remove the swirls and finer scratches left by previous washing, followed by a refining stage to bring back the depth. The before-and-after panels in the gallery were shot under an inspection light, which is the honest way to show paint correction on black — sunlight flatters it, inspection lighting does not.
Gtechniq ceramic coatings
Correction only lasts as long as the way the car is washed afterwards, so the finish was sealed with Gtechniq ceramic coatings. A coating puts a hard, chemically resistant and strongly water-repellent layer over the corrected paint, so the car sheds water and road grime, stays cleaner between washes, and is far less likely to pick the swirls straight back up.
