What is Paint Protection Film (PPF)
Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a clear, advanced thermoplastic polyurethane film applied to vehicle paintwork. It is specifically engineered to protect the paintwork from chips, scratches, swirl marks, road debris, environmental damage, and daily wear and tear.
Paint Protection Film offers unrivalled protection and can save costly bodyshop bills, thereby maintaining the vehicle’s original paint and ultimately protecting your investment whilst helping keep your car’s resale value.
Main Benefits Of Xpel Paint Protection Film
Stone Chip Protection
The primary benefit of paint protection film is that it shields against physical damage from road debris, such as stones and gravel. PPF acts as a shield, absorbing impacts and safeguarding your car’s paint.
Preserves resale Value
A well-maintained car with pristine paint holds greater value than one with chips and scratches. Installing paint protection film (PPF) helps preserve your vehicle’s appearance and enhances its resale value.
Self-Healing Properties
Modern paint protection film features self-healing technology that allows minor scratches and swirl marks to disappear when exposed to heat from the sun or warm water. This ensures that your car’s finish stays flawless.
Long Term Durability
All XPEL Paint Protection Film products come with a 10-year warranty. This durable film withstands environmental elements and everyday hazards. Our PPF lasts for years with proper care, providing peace of mind.

PPF Installation Process
Preparation
We always begin with a thorough wash of the vehicle, followed by multiple decontamination stages to eliminate any bonded contaminants.
The panels where the film will be applied will receive a light machine polish. This process removes any previous protective coatings, ensuring that the film adheres properly to the paintwork.
Installation
We utilise state-of-the-art software and a Graphtec plotter to cut the PPF to your vehicle’s exact specifications with precision. This means no unnecessary stretching and absolutely no blades near your valuable paintwork.

We pride ourselves on the fit and finish of our work, ensuring perfect alignment and going the extra mile to ensure the paint protection film on your car is as invisible as possible.

Everything you need to know about protecting your vehicle with XPEL Paint Protection Film in Hampshire.
What exactly is Paint Protection Film, and how does it protect my new car?
Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a crystal-clear, ultra-durable urethane film applied to your car’s paintwork. It absorbs the impact of stone chips, gravel, scratches, swirl marks, road debris, and environmental contaminants — keeping your new car looking flawless from day one
Is PPF worth the investment for a new vehicle, and how does it help with resale value?
Yes. Since new cars lose value quickly once paint damage appears, PPF preserves the factory finish and prevents costly repairs. A vehicle with unmarked, original paintwork holds significantly higher resale and trade-in value.
How long does XPEL PPF last, and what warranty is included?
XPEL Paint Protection Film comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty covering yellowing, peeling, cracking, and bubbling. With proper care, the film maintains long-term clarity and protection throughout your ownership.
My Car Isn’t New, Can I still Have PPF Applied?
Paint protection film can be installed on pretty much any vehicle at any time. To get the most value out of the product, we recommend installing it when the vehicle is brand new. A car which is a few years old with very low mileage would also be ideal if you wanted to preserve the original finish and prevent new chips from happening. We will ask to inspect your vehicle if it has more than 10,000 miles to verify that it’s a good candidate for PPF.
Any chips and damage under the film will appear as air bubbles and can look somewhat unsightly on a high-mileage car. Touch-up paint can be used under certain circumstances, but it is no substitute for a professional refinish from a qualified body shop.
PPF Or Ceramic Coating, Which Is Better?
Ceramic coatings only offer protection against environmental damage, not physical damage, unlike PPF. If your goal is to improve your car’s appearance and keep it cleaner for longer, ceramic coatings are a great choice.
However, if your goal is to protect your car’s paintwork and keep it looking nice for as long as possible, paint protection film is the best choice. It will protect your car’s paint from stone chips, scratches, vandalism and road debris.
We recommend applying paint protection film to all high-impact areas, then ceramic coating the car for ultimate protection.
Can PPF be applied over ceramic coatings?
Our recommendation is to apply a ceramic coating over PPF, which chemically bonds to the surface. If Ceramic Coating is already installed and you’d like PPF, then the Ceramic Coating will have to be polished off before PPF can properly adhere to your car’s paint.
Should I combine PPF with ceramic coating on my new car?
Yes — this combination offers the ultimate protection.
– PPF protects against physical damage (chips, scratches, impact).
– Ceramic coating adds hydrophobic and gloss benefits, making cleaning easier.
Ceramic coating is applied on top of the PPF for the best results.
Can PPF be installed on matte or satin paint finishes?
Yes, we offer Xpel Stealth film specifically designed to protect matte and satin paint finishes without altering the original appearance. View our matte/satin PPF packages
Which areas of my new car should I protect with PPF?
For new vehicles, the most common and effective coverage options include:
– Front Bumper (high-impact area)
– Bonnet & Wings
– Headlights & Mirrors
– A-pillars & Leading Roof Edge
– Side Sills & Rear Wheel Impact Zones
For complete peace of mind, a Full Car PPF package ensures total coverage of all painted and carbon fibre surfaces.
How much does PPF installation cost?
Pricing varies based on vehicle size, model complexity, and coverage. Typical starting prices:
– Front Bumper: from £450 + VAT
– Full Front: from £1,300 + VAT
– Performance Package: from £1,800 + VAT
– Full Car: from £3,300 + VAT
A free consultation ensures you receive the right level of protection for your new vehicle.
What is the difference between gloss (Ultimate Plus) and matte (Stealth) PPF?
Ultimate Plus — A high-gloss, self-healing film that enhances shine while remaining virtually invisible.
Stealth — Designed for matte or satin paintwork, or to transform glossy paint into a satin finish without repainting.
Both films provide the same level of long-term protection.
How long does the PPF installation process take, and what does it involve?
Most installations take 1–5 days, depending on coverage. The process includes:
1. Thorough wash and multi-stage decontamination
2. Light machine polish to create a perfect bonding surface
3. Precision-cut film using a digital plotter (no blades on paint)
4. Careful installation, ensuring tight edges and a seamless finish
Do you offer collection, delivery, or transport options for new cars?
Yes. To make the experience hassle-free, we offer:
– Flexible scheduling
– Door-to-door vehicle collection and return
– Enclosed transport for high-value or exotic cars
We are also happy to drop off and collect clients from the local train station.
