XPEL paint protection film and Gtechniq ceramic coating on an Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster
This Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster came to our Wiltshire studio for the combination most owners of a car like this are after: the paint corrected first, then protected so it stays that way. The work was a multi-stage machine polish, followed by XPEL paint protection film on the panels that take the punishment, and Gtechniq ceramic coatings over the top.
Multi-stage machine polishing
Film and coatings lock in whatever finish is underneath them, so the paint correction has to come first. The Roadster was washed and fully decontaminated, then machine polished over several stages to remove the swirl marks and light scratches that had built up in the paint before the gloss was refined back.
XPEL paint protection film coverage
Film was installed to the complete front end, the side skirts and the rear wheel impact areas – the panels that collect stone chips, scuffs and road debris on a car used as it should be. XPEL film is self-healing, so light marks in the surface disappear with heat, and it carries a 10-year warranty against yellowing and peeling.

Gtechniq ceramic coatings
With the correction and the film done, the car was finished with Gtechniq ceramic coatings. The coating adds a hard, chemically resistant and strongly water-repellent layer over both the paint and the film, which keeps the car cleaner between washes and makes routine washing far easier – the point at which most swirl marks are put back into a car in the first place.
