Ascari Blue Audi RS e-tron GT – XPEL PPF and Gtechniq coatings
This Audi RS e-tron GT arrived at our Hilperton studio in Ascari Blue — a metallic with enough flake in it to read as a different colour under every light — for paint protection film across the front end and carbon roof, followed by a full Gtechniq coating package.
XPEL film on the front end and carbon fibre roof
XPEL self-healing paint protection film was fitted to the panels that take the punishment on UK roads: front bumper, bonnet, front wings, headlights, wing mirrors, A-pillars and the full carbon fibre roof. The film is optically clear, so the flake in the Ascari Blue and the weave of the carbon roof read exactly as they did before, and it is self-healing, so light marks in its surface lift out with heat rather than staying put.
Machine polish, then Crystal Serum Light and EXO
The main bodywork was given a single-stage machine polish to clear the light hazing and delivery marks, then coated with Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light topped with EXO. Once the film had fully settled we applied Gtechniq Halo over it — a ceramic coating formulated specifically for use on paint protection film — so the filmed panels and the bare paint behave the same way when the car is washed rather than one shedding water and the other holding it.
Wheels coated inside and out
The wheels were coated inside and out with Gtechniq’s high-performance wheel products, so brake dust and road grime rinse away instead of baking on to the faces and barrels. Together with the coating on the paint, that is the difference between washing the car and fighting it — which matters more on a heavy, fast EV than most people expect.
