Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition – XPEL PPF and Gtechniq coatings
One of just 20 Limited Edition Civic Type Rs to reach the UK, in Sunlight Yellow. It came to our Hilperton studio for XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film across the high-impact panels, with the paintwork decontaminated and machine polished first and Gtechniq coatings over the top.
Decontaminated and polished before any film went on
The order of work matters with film, because whatever is under it stays under it. The car had a full exterior decontamination — the snow foam stage is the first shot in the gallery — followed by a single-stage machine polish to clear the light marks a new car collects in transit and at the dealer. Two of the gallery images are 50/50s shot under LED light, which is where marks like that actually show themselves.
XPEL Ultimate Plus on the panels that take the hits
XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film was fitted to the front bumper, bonnet, front wings, side skirts, lower door sections, side mirrors and rear bumper sections — the areas that collect stone chips, grit and scuffs. Ultimate Plus is self-healing, so light marks in the film lift back out with heat, and it is optically clear, which means Sunlight Yellow stays exactly as loud as Honda intended.
Gtechniq Crystal Serum and C5 Wheel Armour
The paint was finished with Gtechniq Crystal Serum and the wheels treated with Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour — both products appear in the gallery. Coating the wheels earns its place on a car like this: brake dust off those calipers rinses away on a wash instead of bonding itself into the spokes and the red pinstripe. More on the coatings we use and what they do.
