Laguna Seca Blue M3 CS Touring – full XPEL PPF and Gtechniq coating
This BMW M3 CS Touring arrived at our Hilperton studio in Laguna Seca Blue — one of the boldest colours BMW M offers, and one of the least forgiving when it starts collecting stone chips. The owner booked our new car protection package, so the car went straight onto the ramp for full-body paint protection film before it had chance to pick up any road damage.
Full-body XPEL film over Laguna Seca Blue
Every painted panel was covered in XPEL self-healing paint protection film — bonnet, front bumper and grille surround, front wings, doors, sills, roof, rear quarters, tailgate and rear bumper. The film was fitted wet and wrapped around the panel edges, and because it is optically clear the depth and flake of the Laguna Seca metallic reads exactly as it did before, now with a self-healing layer over the top. On a colour this saturated that matters more than most: chips stand out far more against bright blue than they do on black or silver.
Carbon detail left exactly as BMW built it
This car carries its carbon roof and bonnet vents from the factory, so unlike the Black Sapphire Metallic M3 CS Touring we finished with a carbon-look roof, there was no conversion to do here. The roof was filmed in clear XPEL instead, so the factory weave is protected from stone chips and UV without being changed, and we worked the film carefully around the bonnet vents and the red CS accents so all of that detail stays sharp and visible underneath rather than being softened by it.
Gtechniq ceramic coating over the film
Once the film had fully settled we applied Gtechniq Halo, a ceramic coating formulated for use over paint protection film. It lifts the gloss, adds surface slickness and makes the blue considerably easier to keep clean through a British winter. The gold forged wheels were coated inside and out at the same time, keeping brake dust and road salt off both the faces and the barrels.
