Full XPEL paint protection film and Gtechniq coatings on a BMW M3 GTS
This very low-mileage 2012 BMW M3 GTS (E92) in Fire Orange came to our Wiltshire studio for full-car paint protection film and Gtechniq coatings. Only around 138 to 150 GTS were built, and this one has been with the same enthusiast owner from new, so the brief was preservation rather than repair.
Removing 13-year-old paint protection film
The car had Ventureshield film fitted to the front end and side skirts shortly after purchase, and after thirteen years it was showing its age. Early PPF patterns were far more conservative than today’s, so the car was left with visible film edges and exposed paint alongside them. We removed the old film carefully and replaced it with a modern self-healing film that covers far more of each panel, with the edges wrapped and tucked so the install effectively disappears.
Full exterior XPEL film, inside and out
XPEL self-healing film was then installed across every painted exterior panel, which shields the car from stone chips and road debris, scratches and wash marks, environmental contamination and everyday wear. Light marks in the film’s own surface heal out with heat. We also protected the interior carbon fibre trim with precision-cut film, since those are the high-touch surfaces that pick up scuffs on a car this rare. Gtechniq Halo over the film
Once the film had fully settled we applied Gtechniq Halo, a ceramic coating formulated specifically for use on paint protection film rather than paint. It makes the car easier to wash, adds real hydrophobic performance and gives the film a slicker, glossier surface. The wheels were coated inside and out with Gtechniq wheel products so brake dust and road grime lift off instead of bonding on.
