Full-car XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film on a Porsche 992 Carrera S
This 2020 Porsche 992 Carrera S in Gentian Blue came to our Wiltshire studio to have every painted panel covered in XPEL Ultimate Plus paint protection film. A 911 is a car that gets driven, and the chips that come with that are the one kind of damage polishing cannot undo, so the owner chose to cover the lot rather than just the nose.
Stripping the car back for a proper install
The gallery shows what a full-car install actually involves. Wheels came off, the bonnet and engine lid came up, and lights and trim were taken back so the film could be wrapped into the shut lines and around the edges rather than stopped short of them. That is the difference between an install you can see and one you cannot: on a finished car there should be no line sitting in the middle of a panel collecting dirt.
Why XPEL Ultimate Plus
Ultimate Plus takes the stone chips, scratches, scuffs, bird lime, road debris and weather that would otherwise land on the paint. It is self-healing, so light marks in the film’s own surface close up with heat rather than staying there, and it carries a 10-year warranty against yellowing and peeling. Patterns are computer-cut on site rather than cut on the vehicle, which keeps a blade away from the paint entirely.
Preparation, and what comes after
Film seals in whatever is underneath it, so the car was decontaminated and the paint prepared before anything was laid on. Gentian Blue is a deep metallic that shows every wash mark, so getting the paint right first matters as much here as the film itself. A ceramic coating over the top of a full-car install is the usual finishing step: the film takes the impacts, the coating makes the whole car easier to wash.
