Dravit Grey BMW G80 M3 Competition – XPEL PPF and ceramic coatings
This 2021 BMW M3 Competition arrived at our Hilperton studio in Dravit Grey for a single-stage machine polish, followed by XPEL paint protection film and Titan ceramic coatings. Correcting the paint first matters on a job like this, because film and coating both lock in whatever is underneath them.
A single-stage machine polish first
The car was decontaminated and given a single-stage machine polish to clear the delivery marks and light hazing that almost every new car arrives with. Dravit Grey is a dark metallic that reflects the studio lights like a mirror, so swirls show up plainly in it — far easier to remove before the film goes down than to unpick afterwards.
XPEL film across the high-impact panels
Film was installed to the complete front end, the side skirts, the lower door sections and the rear bumper sections — the areas that take the stone chips, scuffs and road debris on a car that gets used. The XPEL film is self-healing, so light marks in its surface disappear with heat, and it carries a 10-year warranty against yellowing and peeling. Fuller coverage options across the M range are set out on our BMW paint protection page.
Titan ceramic coatings for easier washing
Titan ceramic coatings were applied over both the paint and the film. A ceramic coating is what makes routine washing straightforward: dirt has less to hold on to, water sheets off rather than sitting on the panels, and the car comes clean without aggressive chemicals or hard contact — which is exactly how you keep a dark metallic swirl-free.
